Running

Last year I ran my first half-marathon. It was a humid day and my performance was less than stellar. I was pretty disappointed and knew I had to prove to myself that I could do better.

Fast forward to this year....

Nate and I signed up to run the Indy mini and a nearby 5K. We trained all spring through some VERY high winds and chilly weather. Then about 2 weeks before the race Nate hurt his knee playing basketball and was unable to run either race.

The first race was the 5K. I had run a 5K in November with my sister, and our time was 30:38. I was pretty sure I could cut off a few minutes from that time. I finished in 25:16. Unfortunately, my cheering section (Nate, Noelle, and Eli) missed me crossing the finish line. :(

always fun to "run" with my best friend from highschool, although she was 5 min ahead of me:)

The next weekend was the Indy mini. I had no idea what to expect. I certainly hadn't planned on 35,000 runners. It was amazing. I was shoulder to shoulder with people through-out the entire race! It was a chilly/rainy day, and after my race the year before I was so thankful for the cool air. I had a great run and finished with a PR of 2:00. I was thrilled. 2:00 had been my goal the year before. Can't wait for next year, when my time should put me in a corral closer to the front!

I did it 2:00:26
